About FlightShows

Redefining the Art of Drone Light Shows

FlightShows is a UK-based drone light show company specialising in immersive, story-driven aerial performances. We combine creative storytelling and advanced drone technology to transform the sky into a stage.

Whether it’s a celebration, wedding show or corporate event, our goal is simple: create unforgettable experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Our Story

FlightShows was established in 2020 by George and Eoin who had collaborated for many years on large-scale global theatre tours and West End shows.

That background shapes everything we do. We don’t approach drone shows as technical displays, we approach them as performances. Every show is designed with a clear narrative and audience engagement at its core.

The Past

FlightShows began in 2020, following an unexpected moment of inspiration during a light-hearted Zoom quiz after COVID-19 had brought the live entertainment industry to a standstill.

With backgrounds in touring theatre, West End productions and large-scale live events, we brought together technical expertise and creative production experience to approach drone shows in a different way. From the outset, we saw the technology as a new performance medium rather than simply a way of drawing pictures in the sky.

FlightShows was also one of the UK’s early operators authorised for large-scale drone swarming under the previous OSC regulatory framework, establishing the aviation experience on which our operations continue to develop today.

The Present

Today, FlightShows creates indoor and outdoor drone light shows for weddings, brands, festivals, public celebrations, live productions and private events across the UK and internationally.

We operate more than 500 drones from our UK fleet, with access to more than 5,000 aircraft through our wider network. During 2025 alone, FlightShows logged 188 drone flight operations across our live show and operational programme.

In 2025, FlightShows delivered the UK’s first indoor drone show, created for the launch of Prada Paradigme. That milestone opened up a completely new area of live production for us, bringing drone choreography into theatres, brand events, exhibitions and other indoor spaces where it can be integrated closely with performers, lighting, sound and video.

Our aviation capability has developed alongside our creative work. On 19 January 2026, FlightShows became the first UK operator to receive a SORA-based Operational Authorisation specifically for drone swarming. The same Operational Authorisation also covers drone swarm operations incorporating airborne pyrotechnic effects, making FlightShows the first UK operator to hold a SORA-based authorisation for that capability too.

Today, that combination of live-event experience, aviation expertise and technology defines the way we work. We treat every drone show as a piece of theatre in the sky, not simply a sequence of shapes, using pacing, music, movement and reveals to create a performance with a beginning, middle and end.

The Future

Drone technology is developing quickly, but for us the exciting part is what it makes possible creatively.

We are continuing to explore indoor drone performances, new forms of aerial choreography and deeper integration between drones, lighting, sound, video, lasers, pyrotechnics and live performers. Our background in event production means we can treat these technologies as parts of one performance rather than separate effects.

Our ambition isn’t simply to fly more drones. It is to keep finding better ways to tell stories, create genuine moments of spectacle and push forward what a drone show can be.

What sets us apart?

We’re Storytellers, Not Just Technicians

The story is the heart of every drone light show. At FlightShows, we are not just technicians; we are storytellers, illuminating your message with creativity and wonder.

Built on real live event experience

Our background is in theatre and live events, and that still shapes everything we do. We think about pacing, atmosphere, and how an audience experiences each moment, so the show feels natural and well put together.

The scale to deliver properly

We have access to over 5,000 drones, making us one of the largest providers in the UK and globally. That means we can deliver anything from smaller private shows to large-scale productions without compromise.

Designed for real conditions

We’re used to working in the UK, so we design our shows with real conditions in mind. Our drones can operate in wind and rain, helping ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible.

Led by Experience

Eoin O'Grady

Director

With more than 20 years’ experience in large-scale theatre and live events, Eoin O’Grady has worked on major West End productions, arena shows and international tours. That background brings a strong understanding of how timing, technology and storytelling come together to create moments that genuinely engage an audience.

Eoin co-founded FlightShows to bring that same approach to drone light shows, combining choreography, pacing and storytelling with aerial technology to create performances rather than simply formations in the sky.

Alongside his live production background, Eoin has developed extensive experience in unmanned aviation and the regulatory requirements surrounding complex drone operations. He holds A2 CofC and GVC qualifications and has led FlightShows’ aviation and regulatory work. FlightShows was one of the UK’s early operators authorised for large-scale drone swarming under the previous OSC framework and, on 19 January 2026, became the first UK operator to receive a SORA-based Operational Authorisation specifically for drone swarming.

Aviation extends beyond drones for Eoin too. When he is not working on a FlightShows project, he can often be found flying a Cessna 182.

Today, Eoin leads the creative and technical direction of FlightShows, bringing together aviation, show production and technology to ensure each project is safe, technically robust and, most importantly, a compelling live performance.

Drawing on experience from live events and aviation, each project brings together trusted professionals across flight operations, safety management and technical delivery — all working in sync to execute the show with precision.

From initial planning and airspace coordination through to live execution, the team operates with the structure and discipline of a major production — ensuring every performance runs smoothly, safely, and exactly as designed.

The result is a show that feels effortless to the audience, but is powered by a highly coordinated team on the ground.

Whatever the weather

As a UK-based company, we’re no strangers to unpredictable weather. That’s why we’ve designed our fleet to handle even the most challenging conditions. With advanced technology that allows us to safely operate in winds of up to 45 km/h and even in the rain, we’re prepared for whatever the elements throw our way. While we do have safety limits for weather conditions, our thresholds are set high enough that the weather will usually be more of a concern for the audience than for us!

We build contingency days into our planning and are happy to discuss alternative options should adverse weather occur. Your satisfaction and the success of your event are our top priorities—whatever the weather.
