Proven experience in the Channel Islands

That experience includes a 100-drone production for the Jersey Battle of Flowers in August 2023 and a 150-drone, 12-minute performance for Guernsey Liberation Day in 2025.

These were not interchangeable displays moved from one event to another. Each was developed around the identity and purpose of its occasion. Jersey’s show introduced island-specific imagery to a long-established cultural event, while the Guernsey production used a carefully structured visual narrative to mark the 80th anniversary of liberation.

Jersey Battle of Flowers, 2023

In August 2023, FlightShows delivered a 100-drone show over St Aubin’s Bay for the Jersey Battle of Flowers. The show added a new form of live production to an established island event while keeping the creative work rooted in Jersey.

The choreography included Jersey-themed images such as the Jersey cow and Oscar Puffin, together with floral imagery and a musical section marking 60 years since the Beatles visited the island. Those choices gave the performance a recognisable relationship with the event and its audience, rather than relying on a sequence of generic formations.

The project demonstrates what bespoke work can do for a major public occasion. A show can draw on local references, music and the wider event programme, then turn those ideas into a coherent sequence designed for the site and viewing area.

Guernsey Liberation Day, 2025

FlightShows returned to the Channel Islands in 2025 to create a custom show for Guernsey’s Liberation Day. The 12-minute performance used 150 synchronised drones and formed a centrepiece of the official programme commemorating the 80th anniversary of the island’s liberation in 1945.

Its imagery carried the story through a series of connected scenes: the outline of Guernsey, the departure of evacuees, V for Victory, a Spitfire and the word FREEDOM. Movement, musical timing and transitions linked those moments into one performance, allowing the show to move through remembrance, identity and celebration with a clear dramatic shape.

This project is a strong example of FlightShows’ approach to civic and heritage events. The subject was treated with care, and the production was designed to serve the meaning of the occasion as well as its scale.

Aviation planning informed by local experience

FlightShows has an established working relationship with the Channel Islands Director of Civil Aviation, CIDCA, and has successfully delivered shows in Jersey and Guernsey. Our team handles the aviation planning and approvals required for each new project, alongside the relevant site assessment and operational planning.

A complete creative production

FlightShows approaches a drone show as a produced piece of live entertainment. Our background in theatre, international touring and large-scale live production informs how we build the audience’s experience from the first idea to the final scene.

For a bespoke production, we begin with the event, audience and message. The creative team develops a story and storyboard, considers how music will shape the pace and emotional progression, and then creates the detailed animation. Transitions, movement, lighting and timing all matter. The moments between recognisable images are part of the show, not empty space.

That integrated process is especially useful when a project needs to represent an island, commemorate a shared history, reveal a brand or connect with a wider live programme. Soundtrack and imagery are developed to support the same idea, while technical and operational work progresses alongside the creative process.

Channel Islands projects are priced in exactly the same way as any other project, with the only additional cost being the transport required to get our crew and equipment to the islands. In practical terms, that simply means adding the relevant ferry costs to the quotation.
