David & Carolyn’s Wedding Drone Show at Kingscote Barn
David and Carolyn had planned fireworks as part of their wedding celebrations at Kingscote Barn. Then, at very short notice, those plans changed.
Their fireworks could no longer go ahead, leaving them without the big evening moment they had been expecting for their wedding day. That’s when they got in touch with FlightShows.
Despite the incredibly short turnaround, we were able to assess the venue, complete the necessary planning and bring a wedding drone show to Kingscote Barn in time for their celebrations.
And because David and Carolyn had been let down so close to their wedding, we decided to give them a little wedding present of our own. We upgraded their show to our Gold Wedding Drone Show package, completely free of charge.
They were the loveliest couple, and after everything had changed at the last minute, we wanted to make sure they still got the wedding finale they deserved.
A Last-Minute Wedding Drone Show at Kingscote Barn
Delivering a drone show at short notice still requires exactly the same care and operational planning as one booked months in advance.
The venue needs to be suitable, the airspace needs to work, the show needs to be safely planned and all of the operational details have to come together.
When time is tight, having a supportive venue team makes an enormous difference.
A huge thank you has to go to Richard, Ashleigh and the team at Kingscote Barn, who were fantastic in helping us get everything organised so quickly.
We also had brilliant support from the team at SFC at Kingscote, who worked with us behind the scenes to help make the evening run smoothly.
When a wedding plan changes unexpectedly, it takes everyone working together to turn things around. Kingscote and the suppliers on site could not have been more helpful.
From Cancelled Fireworks to a Gold Wedding Drone Show
Instead of the firework display David and Carolyn had originally expected, their guests were treated to a completely different kind of finale.
As darkness fell, the drones took to the sky and transformed into a sequence of illuminated wedding formations, all choreographed together as part of our Gold Wedding Drone Show.
For many of the people watching, it was their first time experiencing a drone light show in person. That included not only the wedding guests, but also the Kingscote team, David and Carolyn’s photographer and their caterers. And judging by the reaction, it went down rather well.
That is one of the things we particularly love about bringing drone shows to weddings. Even guests who have seen videos online are often surprised by the scale of the formations when they actually see them in the sky.
It creates a moment where the entire wedding party stops, looks up and experiences something together.

David and Carolyn came to us because something they had been looking forward to had unexpectedly fallen through.
By the end of the wedding, the replacement wasn’t simply something that filled the gap left by the fireworks.
It had become one of their highlights of the day.
Wedding Fireworks Cancelled? A Drone Show May Still Be Possible
If your wedding fireworks have been cancelled because of dry weather, fire risk or another last-minute problem, it doesn’t necessarily mean your evening finale has to disappear with them.
Wedding drone shows can provide a spectacular alternative to fireworks, creating recognisable images, animations and messages in the sky while giving everyone at the wedding a moment to experience together.
And while we would always prefer plenty of time to plan a show, short-notice wedding drone shows can sometimes be possible.
We still need suitable airspace, a suitable launch site and enough time to complete all of the necessary aviation and operational planning, so we can never guarantee that a last-minute show will work. But if your plans have suddenly changed, get in touch with us as soon as you can.
