FlightShows is bringing A Christmas Star to Dundee’s Christmas Switch-On on Sunday 15 November 2026. Our Christmas drone show will join a day of celebrations centred on City Square, with live music and family activities leading up to the evening’s festivities.
Dundee City Council has announced the drone display as a new addition to this year’s event. We’re looking forward to giving families a story to follow in the sky as Dundee welcomes the Christmas season.
A Christmas Story in the Sky
A Christmas Star follows a glowing star on a journey through a winter world. As the drones move together, snowflakes and Christmas scenes appear in the night sky, with each new image carrying the story forward.
The Star is the character at the centre of it all. Children can follow its adventures, while the music and familiar festive imagery give the whole family something to enjoy together. The animation is choreographed to the soundtrack, so the movement of the drones and the music tell the story as one performance.
We’ll leave the Star’s final destination as a surprise for the night.
A Full Day of Christmas Celebrations
The Santa Dash is scheduled for 10am, with a day of entertainment planned around City Square. Expect street food, market stalls and funfair rides, with roaming performers including the Grinch and acrobatic elves.
Tay FM’s Gregor and Lynsey will host the live music, with performances announced from Dundee Rep Theatre, Downfield Musical Society, Thomson-Leng Musical Society and Rock the Halls. Scottish boy band Just the Brave will headline.
There will also be a Christmas craft tent and snowglobe entertainment, giving families plenty to enjoy before darkness falls. The Christmas tree lights are scheduled to switch on at 6pm, with a special appearance from Santa.
