Carla & James’ Wedding Drone Show at Rhinefield House Hotel
When Carla and James planned their wedding at the beautiful Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest, a spectacular firework display was supposed to provide the big finale to their day.
Then, with the wedding fast approaching, the fireworks were cancelled.
Dry conditions and the heightened fire risk caused by the summer drought meant their planned display could no longer go ahead. Suddenly, one of the moments they had been looking forward to was gone.
That’s when FlightShows got the call.
Stepping In at Short Notice
With very little time to work with, we set about seeing whether we could replace the cancelled fireworks with one of our wedding drone shows.
There is a lot more involved in putting drones into the sky than simply turning up with a fleet and pressing go. Even for a show booked at short notice, the same aviation planning, site assessments, operational checks and coordination still need to happen.
But where it is possible, we will always do everything we can to make it work.
For Carla and James, we were able to get everything in place and bring our Gold Wedding Drone Show to Rhinefield House Hotel.
Instead of the firework display they had originally planned, their guests gathered outside beneath the New Forest sky as the drones took off.
A Completely Different Kind of Wedding Finale
It wasn’t simply a substitute for the cancelled fireworks. It became its own moment.
The whole wedding party could watch the story unfold together, with enormous illuminated formations appearing above the grounds before changing seamlessly into the next scene.
And after the stress of unexpectedly losing their original evening entertainment, Carla and James could finally just stand with their guests and enjoy it.
For us, that is one of the things we love most about wedding drone shows. They create a genuine shared moment. Everyone is looking in the same direction, experiencing the same thing at the same time, and the reactions become part of the show itself.
From a Last-Minute Problem to a Wedding Highlight
After the wedding, James sent us a message that made the frantic turnaround more than worthwhile:
Given the situation we were put in when our fireworks were cancelled, what you managed to pull together for us was absolutely unbelievable. The drone show completely exceeded anything we could have imagined and made our special day even more memorable.
What could have been a real disappointment turned into one of the highlights of the day, and you gave us, our family and our friends a memory that we will cherish forever.
We really appreciate the effort, time and care you put into making it happen, especially given the circumstances. It genuinely meant so much to both of us.

That is exactly the result we wanted.
Carla and James hadn’t planned on having a drone show when they first organised their wedding. But when circumstances outside their control changed their plans, we were able to step in and give them a completely different finale.
And, perhaps, an even more memorable one.
